KVF league attracts more teams three weeks to kickoff

Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) 2021/22 season set to throw off on 26 to 28 November has attracted 16 men's teams and ten in the women's category. 

The women league first meeting which was initially set for Mombasa while the men were expected to converge at Nyayo Stadium for their first leg moved to Kapsabet.

The new schedule is meant to align with the FIVB international calendar with the national league set to conclude in June, paving way for National team assignments. It was further agreed that the number of legs to be played indoor would increase to make for fifty percent of the league action.

At a technical meeting held in Nairobi on Saturday 6 November, the drawing of lots was done. In addition to the 13 that competed in the men's league last season, Prisons Central, Trail Blazers and Prisons Nyanza were the new additions to make it a 16-team league. 

In the women's league Ashton make a comeback after missing out on last season's action to make it a 10-team league. 

The order of matches will see defending champions General Service Unit (GSU) and Prisons Kenya women take on Kenya Army and Nairobi Prisons respectively in the first round of matches. In the second round, GSU face Prisons Central while the women's league holders take on title-chasing KCB.
